We have reached the point where we have a vibrant tech community in Hawaii that has organized itself into a group on Ning - TechHui, and feel that their community created calendar serves the same purpose. 

You may remain subscribed to TechOahu if you would like to see what we come up with going forward, but I recommend that you also subscribe to this feed: http://techhui.ning.com/events/event/feed . It will give you all the posted events at TechHui, and you can also find featured events down the right column at http://techhui.ning.com/.  If you are organizing an event, pitch in and post it on there.

Ryan Ozawa also maintains the excellent Manoa Geeks site, which contains in depth coverage of local Tech Events, and perhaps may also be another site you can subscribe to and visit.  If you look through our sites listed in the sidebar, you can find the varioust mailing lists and resources we have always used to put this site together.

Shawn Drost and I have been planning a weekend where we build and launch a start up.

The basic premise is just you and your geekiest friends, making something for the internet in a weekend. You can read more about the sort of event we’re thinking of here, but please note that this event is not affiliated with the official “Startup Weekend” company. This is a small scale event we’re planning, independent of them.

If you’d be interested, post here, and if you know someone else that might be, forward this to them.

The current venue is my apartment - located near Ala Moana (hopefully reasonably central), and with my roommates on board we can use the whole 3 bedroom place.

I unfortunately do lack some basic necessities (a coffee maker - someone can bring one), but we will absolutely Wifi and a water cooler!

Just a last minute reminder that the Aug. Brown Bag Party is tonite at 6:30 to 8:30 in the Kapahulu Safeway Store in their WIFI area. It is the front left section of the store near the Starbucks and Salad Bar and Deli sections. If you don’t like Starbucks they have a Seattle Coffee Shoppe in the parking lot.

Bring your laptop, desktop, iPod, iPhone whatever and we’ll try to answer your questions and/or fix the hardware at no cost, FREE.

It is also a great place to meet up with friends, new and old.
