Session format for presenting:

Pecha Kucha (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pecha_Kucha)

Basically if someone wants to present something or some topic they have 20 slides and 20 seconds each slide to do it in. This limits the presentation time to 6 minutes 40 seconds. Group discussion can follow afterwards. This is just a format to keep things flowing and avoid “death by Powerpoint”.

LUNCH 2.0 HAWAII
“Lunch Five-O”

Sponsored by HiBEAM and Featuring ChipIn and PeopleBridge

“A small group of high-tech go-getters, determined to get inside Silicon Valley companies, decided to reinaugurate the business lunch. They created a loose-knit community in search of a free lunch — and social interactions with their peers. They call it Lunch 2.0.” (San Francisco Chronicle)

Lunch 2.0 Goes Hawaiian Style!

The tech business lunch phenomenon that started in Silicon Valley — and spread globally to places like Germany, Netherlands and India — comes to Hawaii to provide the Aloha State’s tech community with a new twist on networking. Lunch 2.0 gatherings are informal and meant to connect people with people and people with tech ideas, products and services.

Our first “Lunch Five-O” is:

Friday, December 28, 2007
Noon to 2 p.m.
Manoa Innovation Center
800 Woodlawn Drive in Manoa Valley
http://www.htdc.org/directions/MIC.asp

RSVPs required to rsvp@lunch20hawaii.com

Lunch will be provided by HiBEAM, Hawaii Business and Entrepreneur Acceleration Mentors, a nonprofit dedicated to helping launch and build promising early stage technology, biotechnology and life sciences companies by providing expert professional advice and access to funding sources.

Featured at the event are two HiBEAM portfolio companies: ChipIn and PeopleBridge. ChipIn is a Web-based service that simplifies the process of collecting money from groups of people. Using a ChipIn widget, you can easily promote the ChipIns on the social networking sites you already use and track the demographics of those chipping in. Social networking platform provider PeopleBridge, founded by Dave Kozuki who started GlobalPauHana.org, is the largest social network specifically for kama’aina.

This Lunch 2.0 Hawaii brought to you by Dave Kozuki, Wally Roth and Keith Kamisugi.

Just got this from the HVCA Mailing List. PDF Invitation from the Hawaii Science & Technology Council web page.

Still some availabilities - register now!
Hawaii Science & Technology Council’s
2007 Venture Capital Summit
Wednesday, December 12th
the Kahala Hotel and Resort

Go to http://www.hiscitech.org
for Event Program and On-Line Registration
or contact Robyn at 536-4670 or robyn@hiscitech.org today

The Summit panelists and guests will address these questions:

#1 Deal Flow: Does Hawaii have adequate deal flow to justify sustained venture capital investment?

#2 Hawaii Market Returns: Can venture capital investments in Hawaii companies yield returns comparable to
market returns achieved from VC investments in mainland companies?

#3 Mainland Investment in Hawaii: Do mainland investment firms have the ability, interest and commitment to
invest in Hawaii companies?

#4 Tax Incentives: Has Act 221 promoted or impeded the growth of venture capital deal flow and invesment in Hawaii?

#5 Market Forces: Market forces are always rational and should not be interfered with. If Hawaii has any good
deals to invest in, the money from the mainland will come. Does this mean that there is no need for local venture
capital funds in Hawaii?

#6 Comparative Advantage: Will Hawaii’s innovation/tech sector ever get off the ground and develop sufficient
critical mass to matter?
